It’s normal to expect some swelling and discomfort for the first few days after surgery. We minimize this by using a combination of steroids and non-narcotic and/or narcotic (when appropriate) pain medications that are tailored for your comfort and safety. We also use an ultra-long acting local anesthetic, Exparel, that keeps you numb for one to two days after the procedure.

With Hybridge, you never have to go without teeth during your treatment. The process includes the pre-fabrication of “prototype” teeth that are made to fit over the newly-placed implants passively with a soft liner. You’ll receive these temporary teeth before surgery, and since they’re removable, whether you choose to wear them or not is up to you. Of course, we’ll discuss all of this in detail during your consultation visit.

The Hybridge fee includes removal of any remaining teeth, any grafting that might be necessary, temporary teeth, sedation, the final Hybridge implant bridge, and post-insertion maintenance education. Of course, the exact final fee will depend on the specific situation of every patient, as every patient’s needs are different. In our experience, the implants themselves and the precision prosthetic connection to the implants will last as long as your mouth remains clean and healthy. The lifespan of the teeth is dependent on your chewing and bruxing (grinding) habits but we typically expect these to last 10-20 years. The teeth and gums can be replaced—without starting over—for a greatly reduced fee compared to the initial cost.

Generally, you should care for your Hybridge implant bridges the same way you’d care for natural teeth—it’s that simple. As part of the process, we'll review specific instructions on home care with you, so you’ll know exactly what to expect. We also arrange to see our patients once every six months for a recare appointment. The hygiene appointment takes about an hour and is the same cost as any other hygiene patient visit in our office. Pretty easy!

Dr. Touchstone is a certified Hybridge provider, and initiates the Hybridge solution for an average of five to eight patients per month—about 75 patients per year. Dr. Touchstone has placed and restored implants using various systems for his entire career of 27 years, and through disciplined continuing education he has achieved and maintains Fellowship status in the International College of Oral Implantologists (FIOCI).

In most cases, if a patient has dental insurance, they can reasonably expect in most cases to receive their maximum annual benefit during completion of the Hybridge process. Most dental insurances provide between $1000-$2500 in benefits annually.
It has been our experience that medical insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare, do not provide any meaningful coverage for the procedure codes that are normally submitted related to the Hybridge process or any other implant bridge type of dental procedure for that matter. The only notable exception is for the repair of injury due to blunt force trauma such as an injury from a car wreck.

Our initial consultation fee is $290 and this amount is due upon your arrival for the appointment. This fee covers all necessary x-rays and photographs, a 90-minute initial consultation with Dr. Touchstone and his team, and a follow up 45-60 minute consultation if necessary (normally, fees for these services would be $970.00). If you have dental insurance, we'll make a request for insurance reimbursement that may be refunded directly to you or applied toward future treatment.

Yes. Dr. Touchstone uses a technique called Oral Conscious Sedation. He has additional training and certification to provide this type of patient sedation. This method is optimal for the surgery appointment as it allows patients to be completely relaxed and, in most cases, have no memory of the procedure itself in any meaningful way.
